As leaders in the metal forming industry, we take pride in offering a transformative approach to shaping metal components with precision and innovation.
Metal Spinning
Hanmar specializes in CNC and manually spun components in a variety of materials, shapes and sizes to meet customer specifications.
What is Metal Spinning?
Metal spinning, also known as spin forming, is a metalworking process that involves the shaping of a metal disc or tube by rotating it at high speeds and forming it against a mandrel or mold. This cold-forming technique is commonly used to create cylindrical or conical shapes, producing seamless, symmetrical components with exceptional precision.
Hanmar has the capability to spin parts as large as 75” in diameter, in a variety of materials and thicknesses.
Advantages of Metal Spinning
Metal spinning offers several advantages, making it a popular manufacturing technique. Here are some key advantages of metal spinning:
Cost-Effective Production - Metal spinning is a cost-effective method, especially for producing small to medium-sized batches of parts. The process requires minimal tooling and setup costs compared to other metal forming techniques.
Versatility in Material Choices - Metal spinning can be applied to a wide range of metals, including aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, titanium, copper, brass, and more. This versatility allows manufacturers to choose the most suitable material for the specific application.
Seamless and Symmetrical Designs - Metal spinning creates seamless and symmetrical shapes without the need for welding or additional joining processes.
Quick Prototyping and Short Lead Times - Metal spinning has relatively short lead times and is well-suited for rapid prototyping. This quick turnaround is advantageous for companies requiring fast development and production cycles.

Deep Draw Forming
Hanmar is an industry leader in deep draw metal forming providing complex components in wide range of sizes, shapes and materials.
What is deep draw metal forming?
Deep draw metal forming, also known as deep drawing, is a sheet metal manufacturing process that involves transforming flat sheet metal in three dimensional shapes with significant depth. The process is characterized by the progressive forming of the metal sheet into a die cavity through a series of steps. This cold-forming technique is used to produce cylindrical as well as asymmetrical components such as cans, enclosures, stampings and domes.
Hanmar has over 40 presses with forming tonnage capability of up to 500 tons and bed sizes of 60 x 60 inches.
Advantages of Deep Draw Forming
Complex Shape Forming – Deep drawing allows for the production of complex shapes with depth, including, cylindrical, conical, and asymmetrical shapes.
Tight tolerances – Deep drawing allows for tight tolerances and precise dimensions, meeting stringent requirements for various industries including aerospace, automotive and defense.
High production rates – Deep drawing is a high speed forming process, enabling efficient production rates.
Versatility in materials and material thicknesses – Deep drawing is compatible with a wide range of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, Inconel, and titanium. It also can be applied to a variety of material thicknesses, ranging from thin sheet to thicker plates.
